Welcome to the Sentinel dashboard.

When you first login to Sentinel you will land on the dashboard.

The dashboard shows you all the servers that you are monitoring and is the place that you come to add more servers to the system.

The screenshot above shows that you're monitoring 3 servers however, the first time you login, you will have to add a server to Sentinel.

Don't worry .. it's very easy and we'll show you how on the next step.

Add your server or website with just a click!

The first thing that you'll want to do is add a server to your Sentinel account.

To do that, just type the server (or website) name into the panel on the right.

Sentinel will then find your server, get it's IP address and load it into the monitoring platform.

That's all that you have to do for Sentinel to start monitoring your server or website.

Monitor as many services as you like.

You can monitor as many services as you like on each of your servers.

You also monitor multiple instances of the same service.

As an example, you could monitor a number of instances of the HTTP service and check specific web pages on each.

This is much more useful than just a general check of the webserver.

Make changes and tweak settings.

The Sentinel interface makes it really easy to manage all the services you monitor. Adding, changing or removing services takes just moments.

Sentinel will also let you disable monitoring on a service or the entire server. This is really handy if you are taking the server offline for maintenance.

Set parent devices.

Sometimes some of the servers that you are monitoring will rely on other servers for their connectivity.

Sentinel lets you set up parent/child relationships so that if the parent server goes offline then you wont get flooded with alerts that it's children are also offline.

Let other people receive alerts.

Sentinel is designed to work well with teams of people.

You can add as many people as you like to your account and control which of them will receive alerts and for what server.

Sentinel also lets you specify the type of alert that people receive. (Email, SMS or via Twitter's Direct Message).

And if one of your people is taking a holiday then you can disable them globally so as not to disturb them when they are lying on the beach.

More servers, faster checking & more SMS messages.

Sentinel comes with everything that you need to get your server and website monitoring working.

We include monitoring of 3 servers or web sites and a fast checking interval of 5 minutes.

If you want to monitor additional servers or check your servers every single minute then you can purchase add-ons to your plan.
