Sentinel Monitoring Privacy Policy

Sentinel Monitoring Limited ("Sentinel") collects a small amount of information from our customers ("you") throughout the duration of using the Sentinel service to allow us to identify and customise the service to your liking. The following document outlines what we collect, why, and how we aim to protect the information.

Personal Information

When you register as a customer of Sentinel, we collect the following information including your name, email address, when registering as a business (or organization) we collect the company or organization name. This information is referred to as "collected information".

We use the collected information for billing purposes, and to allow us to keep in touch with you. Keeping in touch with you may include (but is not limited to) direct email-marketing activities. We do provide an option for you to opt out of "non-required" communication (this is included in the footer of the communication).

As we are a registered New Zealand company your personal information is protected by the New Zealand Privacy Act 1993. Excluding any integration requirements we will not disclose any personal information to any third party except as required by New Zealand (or applicable international) law.

We will provide facilities inside the Sentinel system so that you are able to view and update the collected information at any time.

Information data collected by Sentinel

Due to the nature of the Sentinel service we are required to collect "information" (as setup by you) to ensure your services are operating and to allow us to inform you of irregularities with your server(s) or service(s).

Sentinel will only collect this information when you have configured it to do so. This information is then processed and securely stored allowing us to present the information to you by the reporting services offered by Sentinel.

By using Sentinel you grant Sentinel the rights to use any collected information (in a generic summary form only), to produce generalized statistics describing server and/or service performance for public release. No personal or identifying information will be included in any publication unless you have specifically given Sentinel the permission to do so.

When you remove a service or server from Sentinel we will remove any collected information for that service or server as quickly as possible (normally this happens immediately).

Credit Card details

Sentinel will use a third party Credit Card processing gateway for all its Credit Card processing. Sentinel will ensure all information collected from clients and passed to the Credit Card processing gateway is encrypted. Where possible Sentinel will not store any full Credit Card number on its system and will use token based billing to ensure the integrity and security of any processed Credit Cards. Any stored information relating to a Credit Card token (or associated details) will be securely encrypted inside the Sentinel system. General

The information described in this document may be stored on any number of servers managed by Sentinel (or its authorized agent(s)) in a number of locations throughout the world. The described server(s) comprise the Sentinel Distributed Monitoring Network.

Sentinel makes the best effort to maintain the integrity and security of theses servers or systems that store or process your information. We do this by following industry best practice with regard to systems architecture, software updates, server hardening and encryption.

Any communication within this Distributed Monitoring Network will be secured using industry-standard 256-bit SSL encryption.
